The giant has awoken and now wants their (bigger) piece of the pie! I just found some interesting info about Google trying to compete with content creation companies (us). Like I said before there is race for content and now Google is stepping in to win it. This is actually nothing new. They tried to do this in the past but just now they are starting to crank it up a notch.
Here is quote from an article published at FT.com
Google is developing technology that could position it to compete with a new breed of digital media companies that are generating story ideas for the internet by mining online search data for under-covered topics.
These new digital companies hope to produce content more cheaply than traditional media operations by using statistical analysis to identify topics of interest to consumers and then hiring freelancers to produce relevant stories or videos.
This is huge by the way! Google has figured it out and is going after us lol. It’s already getting harder and harder to compete in search engine rankings, now imagine what it’s going to be like in 3-4 years from now.
Google is stepping forward and is making deals with companies for revenue sharing. Check out this screenshot I took from doing a simple search for “mortgage rates” on Google.

What does it mean for us marketers?
Well, if you are a small company in the mortgage market you are screwed! But this is only where it begins. Do you think that Google is going to stop there? I imagine they plan to expand this into all sorts of niche markets in the future. It’s coming.
Content creation has proven to be a multi BILLION dollar industry and Fortune 500 companies are about to clean up the house. This means that content being created by the little guy will have a smaller chance to be seen. It’s getting ugly for sure.
Google got a patent for a technology that will allow them to identify “inadequate content” hmm WTF. Guys Content is where the money is at and you need to start producing your own content ASAP or you will be left out and crushed by the giant companies.
