Google Is Punishing Affiliate Sites And Lead Capture Pages
It came to my attention that Google started simply booting affiliates out of the Adwords program. It punishes mainly one page sales letters and lead capture pages. This is something we did not want to happen but it did. It seems like Google is preparing to launch their new Cost Per Action (cpa) program next to Adwords. That means they are going to sell us leads instead of letting us just pay per click to do it on our own. This is going to hurt a lot of businesses that were spending tens of thousands of dollars every month to generate leads or sell their products. Many affiliates are getting a notice from Google to increase their bids by 300% to keep their positions in the paid search results.
Google is always trying to make their search results better and more relevant. Is that a reason why their doing this? Does Google think that the lead capture pages and one page sales letters do not provide any quality content? We don’t know. Google should consider though that there are many shoppers out there, that are not searching for content but for products that they need to solve their problems.
I hope this problem solves itself quickly so we can get back to business. Google is really hitting hard on affiliates though. If you are running affiliate campaigns then be prepared for changes that you might not like.
