Google accounted for 59 percent of the volume of searches in the U.S. for May 2006

“As the volume of searches stabilizes across the top three search engines, the battle to supplement search with additional services and win the loyalty of Internet users becomes critical” said Bill Tancer, general manager of Global Research at Hitwise. It seems like Google will lead the search engine war for a while with these statistics. Yahoo and Msn accounted 22.0 and 12.1 percent respectively in May of 2006. The number of searches on Yahoo and Msn decreases comparing to previous months. In March of 2006 Yahoo accounted 22.3% where MSN did 13.1%. Next month in April Yahoo did 22.2% followed by MSN with 12.6%. Google definitely dominates the search market and keeps strengthening its position every month. I have read before that MSN is supposed to target Google and compete for the dominating position, but it seems like MSN is not doing a very good job at it. Google keeps coming out with new products and services which becomes very efficient in keeping the searches within Google search engine.
