How To Register A Domain Name
I have been thinking a lot about how should webmasters register their domain names. I know that many people register their domain names like this: keyword1-keyword2-keyword3.com. Is this better than just one simple easy to remember name like for example affhelper.com? I am not sure. I have heard from many people that by registering a domain name like keyword1-keyword2-keyword3.com will help you with your search engine rankings for those specific keywords. Well, I don’t think I agree with that. Maybe on MSN or Yahoo, but not that much with Google. I can do a search on Google for “home based business” and find some websites that has no keywords in their domain name. In fact a friend of mine who owns boconline.com ranks on the first page for those keywords. I have also heard recently that by having your main keywords in your domain name can hurt your rankings and keep you longer in the sandbox. I think search engines don’t like those type of domain names anymore. Maybe if you registered your domain like a few years ago and it already gained some saturation within search results, then it could be beneficial. New websites do not experience such a boost in rankings because of that anymore.
I would like to hear your opinion about that so feel free to posts comments.
